Why Sell at Your Local Flea Market:

  1. Affordable Spaces: Starting a new business can be expensive, and many people do it while still holding down a full-time job. Flea market spaces are very affordable, starting as low as $20-25/day for an outdoor space. There are no long-term lease agreements. Call and ask for the options available at each market.
  2. Flexibility: You have flexibility at a flea market to sell every weekend, by the day, or by the month. You can also move spaces around the flea market to try out a new location within the market. You are not stuck in one spot or contract depending on what you want to do.
  3. Foot Traffic: Flea markets are established locations that people visit every weekend. They have foot traffic that you can capitalize on. While this doesn’t necessarily mean you will make huge sales right away, with effort and engagement, you can attract regular customers.

Tips for Successful Selling:

  • Visit the Property: Check out the property and see what is already being sold. Observe the customers and current sellers to understand the market better.
  • Manage Your Display: Keep your display clean and arrange your merchandise in an attractive way.
  • Engage Your Customers: Smile and greet your customers. Engage with them and talk to them about your products.
  • Try It for a Month: It is recommended you try selling for at least a month to grow your business, learn, and adjust.
  • Learn Your Buyers: Observe what customers are buying and evolve your product mix accordingly.
  • Price Reasonably: Flea markets are known for bargains. Remember that people may want to barter.

Accept Multiple Forms of Payment:

Flea markets are traditionally cash-based businesses, but in today’s environment, people carry less cash and rely more on multiple forms of payment such as credit cards, Venmo, and PayPal. Accepting multiple forms of payment can increase the number of new customers you attract and retain current customers, thereby increasing your sales. Ensure you display the forms of payment you accept visibly in your booth or register area.

Counterfeit Merchandise Policy:

The sale of counterfeit merchandise is strictly prohibited. This includes merchandise that infringes upon copyrighted designs or materials or bears counterfeit trademarks. Anyone violating this rule will be immediately and permanently removed from the property. We work closely with law enforcement to ensure compliance with all laws.
